Paint the Kidding Pen Blue. We Got Boys!

Shiloh Prairie Farm welcomes the first two goat kids born in 2009! Two pretty, paint colored Boer bucklings. The very dark chocolate colored buckling is a little bit smaller than his brother and he looked just a little bit thinner than some kids right after he was born. That is when these pictures were taken, at only a few hours old; however I noticed today he is already fattening up and looks so much better. The two brothers are doing well today. They are starting to really test their legs out by doing playful little hops around the pen. So cute! Luckily these kids were born before the weather turned bad, but I still have does that are due this weekend while we are under a winter storm warning. (Funny, I thought it was Spring? Apparently not yet!) I am hoping they hold off until Sunday when the weather starts to improve a bit!

You know what is almost cuter than those little babie goat kids? Your pride and enthusiasm for them.

Oh Jennifer, I know I sound like a broken record, but I would trade all my goodies for your life in a heartbeat. Of course, I wouldn't know what to do with it when I got it, and I certainly wouldn't want to work as hard as you do. But the goats!

We are staying at our little river condo this weekend and passed a property on the way that had a Dairy Goats sign posted in the front yard. I hope you know I plan on visiting today if it doesn't rain. I brought my camera, so hopefully I'll have some goat photos for YOU soon.

Congratulations on your twin boys. They are precious. I love them. Names?

They are adorable! I would just wanna snuggle them up! Plus I love how they suck on your fingers at this age - it's gross but sweet all at the same time!:)

Too, too cute, and such beautiful colors. Between you and Claire, I'm just learning how cute goat kids are! One day, one day...we'll have some land and Miss Chef will have to drag me in from the barn/coop every spring!

Congrats, and best wishes for a successful round of kidding!

The snow is sticking and accumulating at our house on the twenty-eighth of March in the temperate zone of the Puget Sound Basin!

Congratulations, "Mama" Jennifer! They are adorable. Can you make some video of their little hopping around experiments? I hope Mother Nature goes easy on you.

Oh, my goodness, they are so adorable. I would love to have one. You don't send goats to Vermont by any chance?

Question: are goats like chickens? Females more valuable than males? Oh, but the babies are adorable, regardless!

Heard you had one heck of an ice storm. Hope your other does held out, but for some reason animals seem to pick the worst times to be born, don't they?

It's weekends like this one that help me understand why my dad sold off all the livestock right after my grandpa passed. Worrying about/losing animals in bad weather is no fun!

Alix - Thank you! I can't wait to hear about the dairy goats you visit!

Heart of a Cowgirl- Thank you!

Amy- Thank you! I am happy with bucks or does as long as they are healthy.

Shelley- Thank you. They are cute at this age. The ones born today were sucking on their mother's ears and up in the air. They had lots of enthusiasm to find where the milk comes from!

Linda- Thank you!

Mary, Wrensong, d/iowa - Thank you! I really appreciate the nice words about them.

Flartus - You and Miss Chef would be great farmers!

Lanny & KathyB - Thank you! I do think they plan on it sometimes.

HBM- Thank you. I will check your blog out, don't know how much help I would be though.

Mom L - I tried to make a short video of them hopping today, but they wouldn't cooperate, they must take after their moms already!

Mountain Woman- I know of a couple goat/sheep haulers that haul goats all over the US, but it is pretty pricey I am afraid. :(

SDF- Sometimes it does seem like they pick the worst weather to kid in. On your question, it depends. Sometimes the females sale for more, but a really nice registered buck could bring more too.

Mama- Thank you!

Awwwww..... Baby bucklings! I want one! Well, I say that now, but when they get big enough to start eating the garden, I'll have to think again! I don't know which I miss most... My son and grandsons.. or the goats!

Tatersmama- Despite my blogs name...I hope our goats stay OUT of the the vegetable garden this year!

Oh they are sooooo cute!! My sis in CA keeps telling me we should get some goats, and alpacas too. Of course hubby says NO. I sense he doesn't want anymore animals than what we already have? Hmmm. Wonder why. ;-)
