Heavenly High Speed

This is what it takes to get high speed Internet when you live just a little bit too far out in the country for DSL and at the bottom of two hills. We had to put this tower up at the top of the hill, way up in the west goat pasture. We were not done yet, a trench had to be dug about 400 feet back down the hill to the house for the cable. ( We really, really hated dial-up.) For the last few months I have been in high speed heaven, no more playing spider solitaire or catching up on paperwork while waiting for websites to load. I actually got to watch YouTube videos more than 2 seconds at a time! I was able to post my first little farm video on my blog! Life is good. Lately we have been having some issues with it though, things will run slower than even the dial-up was at certain times and then next time things are running great. Hopefully that will get fixed but after years of super slow dial-up, I can't complain!

Oh, the joys of high speed. I'm not sure I could ever go back. The tower, did you purchase that?

I'm glad we were finally able to get DSL in my part of the woods though through our phone company after many phone companies we were trying to get it through and our DSL is hooked up to our router too and it's hooked up to 3 computers too!

I can't even begin to imagine still being on dial-up, ugh! I had cable in Ohio, and when I moved here my hubby has DSL, which we had to upgrade to a higher speed for my iMac. It's still not as good/fast as what I had in Ohio, but I figure it's the price you pay for living out in the country! I don't know what I'd do without it, because I'm on my computer more than I watch TV!

It took us awhile to get high speed too. I used to get a lot done while waiting for dial up to download...dishes, dusting, vacuuming...a nap! I don't want to go back to that though! Good for you.

We just got DSL here on the farm about a year ago. I LOVE IT!
After being at work all day with high speed, then come home to dial up, it would get really frustrating.
And now The Captain is learning his way around the world wide web.

We had the poles, guide wire & posts we needed on the farm, but we did have to purchase the cable.

We don't even have cable anymore and I don't miss it a bit, but I would sure miss my computer if I didn't have it!

Wow. I just have my satellite service and I'm thrilled with that after having dial up for so many years but I can't watch videos on it. I'm envious.
