Peeps thinks she is a lap goat.

She likes nothing better than to take a nap or relax and chew her cud all cuddled up in a friend's lap. Peeps won't be a lap goat forever though because she is a cross of two very large breeds of goats. See, her daddy is a big, burly Boer buck and her mom is a long, tall Nubian doe so Peeps is destined to out grow her position as resident lap goat someday, but for now she is milking it for all it is worth.
Peeps was born on Easter, in fact that is how she got the name
Peeps. I was there to get some
cute baby pictures of her right after she was born.

Earlier this past Spring my husband made it very clear the goat herd size was already as large as it should be, so we would not be keeping hardly any of this years doelings. I had some tough decisions to make but it seemed to make sense to both of us to sell the cross breed doelings first. The fact that I already had
her mother, and both of her half sisters in the herd made Peeps seem like a logical choice for one of the doelings to sell and
I even posted about it. The word must have got out to Peeps about that because she really turned up the charm. It wasn't long until she had my husband wrapped around her little hoof and he eventually changed his mind about selling her. I was secretly glad because she had wormed her way into my heart as well with her friendly personality and funny antics. So Peeps is going to hang here with us, as our farm mascot, resident lap goat and hopefully a nice backyard milk goat someday.
Adorable! Thanks for sharing these Superior Snaps. SITS sent me by, and I'm glad they did...
ReplyDeleteLol How cute!! She is huge!! Our Boer Nubian cross is a good milk goat. She dries up before everyone else but its good creamy milk while it last..
ReplyDeleteWe have a wether here that has done the same.. I have been promised that if we dont eat him he will be trained as a cart or pack goat!lol
Now you've done it! You have the cuteness alarms going off like crazy. I soooo want to have Peeps in my lap, and I don't even care how big she gets.
ReplyDeleteWhen are you going to hire me to be your farm hand?
Aww... that is too cute!! I'm not sure how she'll take being told she's too big for a lap goat when she reaches that stage! I'm so glad you guys are keeping her, she is adorable!! Especially all sprawled out in your husbands lap!
ReplyDeleteShe's lovely Jen, we're trying to make the same decisions right now!

We goats are not stupid!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to let them go, though, isn't it? :(
What a sight! Makes me ashamed that I sometimes tell my cat (all of 10 pounds) that she's too heavy on my legs... :) I'm very glad Peeps won her campaign to stay with you.

ReplyDeletehmmmm.... that has just given me one very good idea! Thank you Peeps! Goat kisses from Isobelle!
ReplyDeleteIts so hard to sell any of them isn't it! We recently have gone a different direction with our goats. We sold quite a few large Nubian girls... they were so sweet.
ReplyDeleteBlacky is the only lap goat we have had so far...he just simply wanted me to hold him all the time, from the minute he was born till I couldn't pick him up.. so being in my lap was the next best thing... Glad Peeps gets to stay!! :O)
LOL!! You had us laughing hard!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought our goats were "different" because they know the sound of the Dorito's bag
She's definitely a keeper. It's written all over your husband's face. http://is.gd/3ahXy

ReplyDeleteOh how utterly sweet!!! I used to be afraid of goats when I was a child, because one once ate my favourite rain coat, but this one is just cute!

Happy SITS day and congrats!
ReplyDeleteAs a lifelong city girl, I know NOTHING about farming. I am enjoying reading your posts and learning a bit more.
How cute is that!
ReplyDeleteShe is so cuuutttee!! My kids love baby goats. They just couldn't get used to them when they got bigger. LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh *whew* I'm so glad you kept Peeps! I pulled my hubby over to look at that video -- how cute!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny -- my husband used to act all grumpy towards anything of the feline variety until we got a couple kitties of our own and the boy really turned up the charm and just followed him everywhere. My husband insisted he must actually be a puppy in disguise.
I could swear in that first pic your goat is a dog with floppy ears!
ReplyDeleteAwww....Peeps is beautiful! She sort of looks beagleish to me:) I love that she is a smarty pants and turned up the charm to change your hubby's mind...a lap goat! Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get the video to launch but that's okay I already had fallen in love with Peeps from the pictures! :)
